Ho, Ho, Holiday! I hope you all had a Merry Christmas. After my brother got married in 2010, we didn’t want anyone to miss out on enjoying Christmas with family, so we started a new tradition. We now celebrate Christmas on New Year’s Day, the day after my mom throws an epic annual NYE party. So basically we have a little extra time to procrastinate!
Let’s talk about a few of my favorite things- holiday cocktails and ugly Christmas sweaters! I called a few friends over for a test run of the Holiday Ornamentinis I will be making for the NYE party. After not-so-much convincing, they obliged and the drinks were a huge success! I quite love the presentation and was pleased that it worked as well as planned. I first saw this idea from one of my favorite bloggers, Inspired by Charm by Michael Wurm, Jr., and decided to try it for myself. I adapted the recipe a bit because I’m not a fan of cherry or orange juice, so I gave it the Jen Marie flair! Keep scrolling for the details. 🙂
First, I made these delicious sugared cranberries (recipe here). I filled each glass with 2-3 of these beauties and a sprig of fresh rosemary. Then I mixed the cocktails and used a funnel to fill the ornaments. I used glass ornaments from Hobby Lobby and was sure to buy the size that would fit in a standard martini glass.
After a few photos and boomerangs, the drinks were ready to be enjoyed alongside a few social games and some gourmet snacks. Scroll through the pictures to find the recipes for the cranberries and the cocktail.
And of course, it’s always more festive to party while wearing an ugly Christmas sweater. I wore the not-so-ugly Grinch sweater shown below that my mom made using what I’m guessing is a store full of pom poms! Yup, she’s got some skills!
What’s your family’s holiday tradition? I’d love to hear from you, so leave a comment below and let me know if y’all have a unique way of celebrating. Be sure to add a pic of your favorite tacky sweaters as well! Happy Holidays!
Sincerely,
Jen Marie
